Founder & CEO
Jesse is the Founder and CEO of Mazi Mobility, building Africa's shared battery swapping network for electric motorcycles. Based in Nairobi, Mazi's mission is to make clean, affordable energy accessible to every rider on the road.
He started Mazi because he saw a problem worth solving. Millions of boda boda riders across Africa depend on their motorcycles to earn a living — but the cost and complexity of electric vehicles kept clean energy out of reach. His answer was infrastructure: shared swap stations that let any rider pull in, swap a depleted battery for a full one in minutes, and get back on the road.
What makes Mazi different is that it was built to work with the industry, not around it. Jesse has spent years developing partnerships with motorcycle manufacturers, fleet operators, and energy providers — creating a network that benefits everyone in the ecosystem, from the OEM to the rider on the street.
Founded 2020. Operational since April 2021.
Building interoperable battery swapping infrastructure that cuts rider energy costs by up to 50%.
