OPERATIONS LEAD

swapping and are looking for an experienced First of A Kind Operations Lead to co-develop and
execute our Battery as a Service business at scale.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
To successfully fill this role, your key responsibility will lie in managing our Battery as a Service
business, i.e., strategic deployment of swapping stations, location mapping, asset management, and
back office handling to ensure an efficient and responsive service model. Essentially, you build the
playbook that will enable Mazi to replicate its success across multiple localities, cities, and countries.
You’ll coordinate with the R&D lead and workshop manager for a precise back office flow of activities to
guarantee uptime to customers and directly develop robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to
enforce the systems you build. You will be responsible for reporting to the CEO daily and will support
procurement in the interim.

RESPONSIBILITIES
● Manage the flow of batteries and deployment of swapping stations and bikes through Mazi’s asset management tool.
● Communicate with technicians to understand their pain points and discuss them with the R&D
● Lead to execute fast turnarounds during the workshop’s peak and stressful periods.
● Provide daily reports to the CEO on operations and recommendations on tackling the challenges faced during the day.
● Movements of bikes and other such items.
● Assist in procurement and sourcing goods, ensuring they are delivered on time and in good condition.
● Involved in other areas of the company on a need basis.
● Coordinate and oversee logistics and deliveries of batteries, goods, and other items with the
Workshop Manager.
● Develop and implement operational policies and procedures, which will are reviewed quarterly
and enforced.
● Monitor and analyze operational data to identify areas for improvement.

REQUIREMENTS:
● Strong organizational, project management skills and attention to detail are paramount for success in this job. Systems thinking and design skills are highly sought after.
● Excellent communication (written, spoken and non-verbal) and interpersonal skills paired with a
can-do attitude.
● Working well under pressure and being highly adaptable is vital for your success in this role.
● Scrappy and results-driven with a demonstrated track record of creative/out-of-the-box thinking within constraints to hit the desired outcome of an organization.
● 7-10 years of relevant experience in mid-level to upper-management operations roles at various reputable companies, specifically in delivery, logistics. Previous experience in manufacturing companies is a bonus.
● Previous project management experience with small and large teams is required in fast moving and complex environments.
● Curious and keen to learn, our customers are our bosses. We must listen to them with empathy and go above and beyond to satisfy them.
● Fluent in verbal and written English is a requirement, and Kiswahili is a bonus.
The ability to ride a motorcycle or the willingness to learn is a plus

● We will have you have 2-3 conversations with team members and some in-field experiences to
educate you about our business and what you will be getting yourself into.

● As this is a senior role, you will meet our Board. At the same time, we concurrently crossreference
